The first thing I want to say is that Mike and Stefani are AWESOME! We hired them to do our lighting, music, slideshow and rented chivari chairs from them. I have had nothing but compliments from everyone that came to the wedding and the dance floor was never empty. I appreciated the personal attention that they gave us throughtout the whole wedding planning process. Stefani was so patient with us while we tried to figure out what songs to put in our slideshow and was very understanding when I decided to change one of the songs the day before the wedding. My family loved the slideshow presentation so much that some of my aunts even asked if they could get a copy of it.

We gave Mike our vision of the wedding we wanted it and not only did he acheive that but it was 10 times better then we imagined. Out of everything we did for the wedding I think hiring Mike and Stefani was the best decision we made. They gave our wedding that WOW factor and we couldn’t be happier. Anyone debating on who to hire for lighting and music has to meet Mike and I guarantee you that after that first meeting you will want him for your wedding!

The first time my mom and I met with him we knew he was going to be amazing! You can tell just by the way he loves music that he’s a great DJ! He’s passionate about what he does and knows how to get people on the dance floor!! He’s great! After signing our contract my (now) husband and I met with him about a month before our wedding! We went over everything! The order of events, songs we want played at certain times, and his vision of the night! We couldn’t have been happier when we left! Everything was perfect the day of! All the songs we wanted were played, people never left the dance floor, the uplighting was PERFECT and made the room gorgeous, the chairs were perfect and exactly what I asked for! We even had two prjector screens for the slideshow we put together and it worked out perfectly! They set it up while everyone was eating and no one even noticed! Then they took it down while we were giving the toasts and, again, no one noticed! After the night was over I thanked him and he even gave me the cd’s of our music he used that night! It was so cool! He was great and everyone said the DJ was awesome! They will make or break your wedding so go with Carcano DJ! He’s the best!

I’m Engaged… Now What? How to Start Planning Without Stressing Out

Every little girl dreams of the day her Prince Charming gets down on one knee and proposes forever. The Big Day, of course, is nothing less than magical and perfect, exactly like you’ve always dreamed of. And you lived Happily Ever After… Right?

But wait a second… The thought of planning THAT day and its necessity to be picture perfect is… Well, daunting! From figuring out the guest list, to cutting down the guest list, selecting colors and theme, to choosing bridesmaids, to their dresses, wait, you can’t forget YOUR dress… Or your shoes, your veil, your jewelry, your hair, your makeup. Not to mention selecting the perfect venue, with the perfect 3 course dinner. The right photographer, videographer, florist, linens, lighting, DJ, favors… Then you think, “How do people do this?!”

Planning the biggest day of your life doesn’t have to be stressful. As long as you keep your head on straight, follow your gut instinct, and follow these simple guidelines, you will be well on your way to your Happily Ever After without turning into the dreaded Bridezilla.

First things first, get the big picture in mind. Sit down by yourself (or with your significant other), in a quiet, relaxed place. Clear your mind of the clutter and focus on your dream day. Think of what you want to see, what you want to smell, and the things you want to experience. Maybe your priority will be your family, or the food. Maybe you begin to think of themes and colors. Start off by writing keywords that you want your wedding to be like. Your keywords may include: Romantic, Family-oriented, beach, garden, intimate, big and loud party, earth tones, sparkle and glam, day/night, etc. Try not to go overboard, and stay within 5-10 keywords or phrases. After you’re done and confident with your list, really feeling like it’s the perfect description of your Big Day, keep it in a safe place and refer to it often during the planning process. During the next few months, you will be bombarded by so many different options, colors and styles, everyone competing for your attention. Brides tend to lose focus on what they originally wanted… what they truly want. Read over your list and almost always, you’ll know what decision to make and what direction to go in. It’s a GREAT way to clear your head and get back to focusing on what really matters. Remember, always have end goal in mind.

Now that you know where you want to go, how are you going to get there? You have no doubt already started paroozing through countless bridal magazines and online wedding blogs, looking for ideas and the perfect dress. But before anything is finalized, there are about 5-7 (depending on your wedding) big list items that you need to focus on first. These include: selecting your venue(s), hiring your coordinator, hiring your photographer and videographer, booking your DJ, selecting your caterer, hiring your florist, and booking your rental company. Once you have these set and ready, you can begin to focus on other smaller details.

Your vendors should be experienced enough to know how to guide you through the process. Your photographer gets you going on your engagement session, your florist starts brainstorming floral and décor ideas, your caterer discusses entrees and menu options that fit within your budget, your DJ leads the area of setting the mood of your big day with music and possibly lighting, and your coordinator guides you every step of the way, helping you make decisions and stay on track. In between the meetings with vendors, is when you finalize more personal details. Ask your closest friends or family if they would like to be a part of your bridal party. Visit bridal dress shops and find “the one”. Go on your hair and makeup trials, and figure out your jewelry. Put your guest list together, figure out seating arrangements, and pan out the small details such as your unity candle/sand items, guestbook, table numbers, favors, etc.

The key to not stressing out is doing a little bit everyday. If you’re not much of a checklists kind of gal, make one anyway. It’s going to help HUGE. If you are, chances are you’ve already got a lengthy, detailed one going. Either way, do a little bit everyday during your lunch hour, after work, while at the gym, etc. Even if it’s brainstorming for that day, at least get ideas rolling that will help you go in the right direction. Getting overwhelmed will certainly lead to stress, so the key is to keep calm and uplifted.

Planning a wedding is supposed to be a fun and exciting experience. Leaving enough time to do everything is a big part of that. Aim to be done with major planning and details two months before the wedding. That way, if anything changes or was forgotten, there’s still some time. You’ll also be able to fully enjoy the last few months leading up to the Big Day with the showers, bachelorette parties and spa days. What a fabulous way to go into the biggest day of your life!

Pelican Hill Resort and Crowne Plaza, Anaheim Weddings

What a way to wind down the 2011 year! We have been extremely fortunate to work with great vendors and wonderful brides and grooms. Everyone working together is what makes these weddings a complete success. I am very lucky to do what I do and work with such top professionals.

This past Saturday we did the lighting, draping and chiavari chairs at the Crowne Plaza, Anaheim with Kit Gutierrez. The coordinator, Betty Lang, and her staff at Vanda Events put on a spectacular wedding! We did the uplighting, pin spotting on all the guest tables, a custom gobo on the dance floor and 4 moving intelligent lights on truss for the dancing part of the event. We also provided 475 silver chiavari chairs. The Young Brothers Band, who we highly recommend, provided the wonderful entertainment for the evening. Congratulations to C-T and Kevin! On November 26th, we did the DJ, lighting and chiavari chairs at Pelican Hill Resort with Fran and her staff in the Mar Vista Ballroom. We provided the uplighting, a custom gobo on the dance floor, 300 silver chiavari chairs and we DJed the ceremony, reception and the after party. The coordinator, Natalie Good of A Good Affair, did an excellent job of keeping the night running smoothly. Congratulations to Dalia and Khaled. Mike and Stefani did exceptional on our wedding day! Talking to Mike the first time gives me no doubts that he knows what he’s talking about. Althroughout my wedding planning, I did not have to worry about the DJ, the sequence and over-all presentation and Mike did not let us down. Stefani is awesome as well! Our montage presentation was very organized and we could not ask for anything more! Great, wonderful services!

After we met with Carcano DJ we knew that we did not need to meet with another DJ. Their staff were friendly, responsive, and most important to us, they were honest. We met with the owner who spent time getting to know us as a couple and then assigned us a DJ that he felt best matched us. Let me tell you that it is no wonder that they have been in the DJ business for so long because he matched us with the PERFECT DJ for us. Our DJ (Jerry) was FABULOUS, he personalized everything for us and we could not have been happier.

Huntington Beach Hyatt Wedding

We did a wedding this past Sunday at the Huntington Beach Hyatt in the Grand Ballroom for 520 people for Jacquelyn and Duke. We provided the DJ, lighting and the chiavari chairs. Betty Lang from Vanda Events along with her wonderful staff did an excellent job coordinating the wedding. We worked closely together with The Young Brothers Band to provide constant entertainment. We hired Mike and Stefani to do the lighting, chairs and be our DJ at our wedding April 30th in Beverly Hills and it was one of the best decisions we made. Communication with Mike/Stefani is fast and easy, they are a pleasure to work with through the entire process. The chairs and lighting were exactly what we wanted – all amber lighting to evoke a romantic, almost candlelit filled room – it completely transformed the ballroom and all of my guests were blown away with how elegant the wedding looked. Mike is a great DJ and MC and worked perfectly with our band – he knew how to read the crowd and kept us all dancing. They are incredibly professional and accommodating to any of your requests and most of all really nice people to work with – don’t think twice about working with them, they are brilliant!
